Patrick Stump – Soul Punk

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

Although the date of release has not yet been announced, former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has finished recording his debut solo album Soul Punk onto Island Records. He is one of the dozens of AP’s Most Anticipated Music issue coming out next month, and is letting his fans help in his decision of which version of “Spotlight” he wants to put on the album. Head over to patrickstump.com to cast your vote. I’m more of a “New Regrets” kind of kid if you ask me.

A Lifeless Ordinary

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

“I wanted it to have the coolness & stupidness of Weezer, the absurdity of the Flaming Lips, & the nonchalance of Pavement, like, ‘we really don’t give a sh*t.’ It combines all these things that I like, all these little nuggets of ridiculousness.”

Motion City Soundtrack frontman Justin Pierre could not resist his inner urge to create his own music video for “A Lifeless Ordinary,” off the band’s 2010 album My Dinosaur Life. He recently took advantage of his downtime to work on the one-take clip for the song. It took 19 tries to get it right, Pierre told SPIN.com, no surprise since making their way around an empty pool are his bandmates, random extras, and a plethora of dancers. “I haven’t had this much fun in long time,” Pierre says of the video which was directed by Shane Nelson. Pierre claims that the “making this video reaffirmed my belief that you should just trust yourself, and do things you like with people you like. Exactly what I had in my mind came out onscreen.”

Choo Choo! …nimals.

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

Unleashed a few days ago is the new fall collection from Choonimals Clothing Company! “Choonimals” are their own brand and creation of animals/creatures/abominations from an otherwise normal animal kingdom. Still prepubescent, the boys drew these absurd (yet somewhat cute) all over their belongings in order to pass time in class, and infuriate teachers. The name derived during high school, when the creators all went out to lunch together. While stuffing their faces at Arby’s, there was an old lady taking their orders whose name was “Choon.” Drew thought it was hilarious, and the next time they drew one of these “animals”, he called it a “Choonimal.” Legit, that’s what really happened.

Steve Salazar New Project – Young

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

With Mitch Johnson singing lead vocals and rhythm guitar, he and Steve Salazar (lead guitar, vocals) have premiered their newest project titled Young. Although the two originated from opposite sides of Minnesota, this pop rock collaboration is now making its residency in St. Paul. The two met in their dorm while still studying as freshmen at the University of St. Thomas. Salazar arrived at the decision to team up upon listening to the previous demos of Johnson. Until the pair is established and ready, they will remain acoustic but being that they have goals of someday playing electric, they will soon progress into a full band. The above song is their first released track titled, “Payday“. Be on the look out for the upcoming debut EP which is nearing its finish.

It’s that time of the month…

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

“After three and a half years as band, The Friday Night Boys are officially splitting up. Many of you know that things don’t always go the way they are originally planned, but it is a decision we all agreed upon. However, I would like to take note of the positive experiences we had as a band, as well as with fans and friends.

We would like to thank all of the people that took the time to listen to our music, come to our shows, buy our merch, and talk to us. You all made flying down a highway at 4am pounding red bulls in a puttering old van much easier and enjoyable. Especially those of you who saw us time and time again all over the country. It was an honor to see your familiar faces whenever and where ever we showed up. The lovely FNB fans brought us all the Cheez Its, cookies, cupcakes and gummy worms we could eat! I think I’m good on those foods for a few years at least. So Read More

(I hate posting these) Confide Breaks Up

Posted by Jenn Aguinaldo

“To our amazing fans,

There is no easy way to say this at all but it’s time to put an end to all the rumors you guys keep hearing about us breaking up. Unfortunately, the rumors are true and we wish we could have been the first to tell you guys but there are reasons why we couldn’t release this statement until now. We want to be 100% honest with you guys and let you know the real reasons that Confide will be no longer because you deserve to know. First of all, we want to let you know that each member of the band remains friends and the band breaking up was a positive thing and nothing bad happened to result in this. After being a touring band for over three years now, Confide is on the road for nine to ten months out the year and for some people in the band, it was getting to be a struggle to be gone so much, living in a van, sleeping in parking lots and not eating/sleeping well. We absolutely love making music, playing shows and especially meeting/hanging out with fans but we feel God has a new chapter for our lives right now. Around two weeks ago, Joshua, Trevor & I (Ross) sat down and talked about how we felt about touring and how it is really taking a toll on our lives. After the talk, we then sat down as a full band and told Jeff & Joel how we felt and they were very understanding and knew exactly what we were going through. Jeff & Joel discussed keeping Confide going but we decided as a group that it would be for the best if Confide came to an end after our Japan tour, which is in early October. Each member of the band will continue to work in the music industry in some way or another, wether it be in a band, work for a record label/management company, work in a studio, or whatever it may be, we’re not giving up on music and you will definitely hear from each of us again. We hope that you guys will show each of us the same support that you have shown Confide over the years. Since the beginning, Confide has been a band that strives to help, encourage and inspire people and even though the band will be no more, we want you guys to still be able to talk to us on a personal level so if you ever want to talk or just say hey, please never hesitate to contact us through our facebook, twitter or myspace profiles. As a huge thank you to our fans, we will be doing a bunch of farewell shows. We’ll post dates and details on the farewell shows once we get back from Japan and figure all of that out. We want to thank fans and give you guys a chance to come to a show and celebrate the life of Confide with us.

Thank you guys for your amazing support over the years.
God bless!

-Ross, Joel”
